Jim Simon

Journalist

Jim Simon is a veteran newsroom manager, writer, editor and journalism educator.

He was the managing editor of Honolulu Civil Beat, a nonprofit news site that focuses on in-depth and watchdog reporting for three years. He was previously the managing editor of the Seattle Times, where he spent more than three decades as an editor and reporter. He helped lead two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting projects at the Times and also won multiple awards for his own reporting.

He is currently an adjunct journalism instructor at the University of Washington. Simon also has extensive experience teaching and training journalists in Southeast Asia, while also receiving a Knight International Journalism Fellowship for work in Indonesia and East Timor.
