Keeping an eye on Olympia: WashCOG tracks bills

Washington state capitol in Olympia

A push for more sunshine is behind the Washington Coalition for Open Government’s 2026 legislative priorities, and the Coalition has launched its annual Olympia Watch to keep you informed — and involved — with relevant legislation.

At the top of this year’s priorities is preserving and promoting the people’s right to know under the state Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act. The Coalition would also like to see greater transparency, achieved in part by promoting a healthy news media that covers state and local governments. See our 2026 legislative priorities here.

WashCOG’s weekly Olympia Watch newsletter has launched, reporting on bill status and upcoming hearings, with links to the relevant legislation and bill analysis. Find the weekly Olympia Watch here, and please subscribe if you’d like the update to arrive in your emailbox every Monday. Also let us know if you learn about transparency-related legislation we are not covering here. Contact info@washcog.org.
